With the Holidays around the corner, the sponsorship of a horse in need makes a wonderful gift for the animal lover in your life. It costs us between $6,000 and $8,000 a year to support a horse. You can choose any horse in the herd to support, and even a small monthly donation can go a long way.
Sponsors will receive periodic updates about their horse and a standing invitation to come to the barn and spoil him or her with lots of treats and love!

Miss Molly
This beautiful grey mare served as a roping horse for many years. She was worked so hard that she permanently damaged her knees, hooves and shoulder. When she came to Sunrise, she could barely walk. With special shoes, anti-inflamtory supplements, and plenty of love and attention, she can now be seen running around the pasture with her best friend Wall-E!
Molly's special shoes are expensive, please consider making a monthly pledge to sponsor this lovely girl!

Wall-E
Wall-e is a special needs morgan gelding who came to us in 2008. He has Cushing's Disease and needs daily medication to keep him comfortable. He also gets a vitamin supplement and lots of love from our volunteers. One of the side-effects of Cushing's is neurological damage, but that doesn't stop this sweetheart from enjoying life to the fullest.
Wall-e will have to remain on his medication for the rest of his life. Please consider making a monthly pledge to help support this gentle soul.

Princess
This darling little princess was rescued from horrible neglect in 2010. She had given her life to compete as a show jumping pony until her rider outgrew her. She was then abandoned at a puppy mill and confined to a tiny box. She was given barely enough food, no health care and not one bit of love. Melanoma cancer was allowed to run rampant with no veterinary attention. At Sunrise she gets more than enough of everything she needs, including special vitamins to help support her body as it battles her disease and regular veterinary care.
Princess needs a sponsor to help cover her medical care. Please consider making a monthly pledge for this little girl!

Tazz
Tazz was one of the lucky ones. He has had to change homes only a few times in his life and has never known what it's like to go hungry. His gentle personality makes him the perfect spokes-horse for Sunrise and he can often be seen greeting people and posing for pictures at fundraising events.
Please consider making a monthly pledge to sponsor Tazz in his retirement years!

Blitzen
Blitzen, a 10 year old American Mustang, was neglected to the point of near-starvation when we picked him up from a property in Napa after concerned neighbors contacted us.

Brio
This little 21 year old Peruvian Passo gelding has a BIG personality! He is ever-curious and loves to make new friends. When his elderly owner passed away, he was left all alone in the back yard with no one to care for him. He is now surrounded by lots of love (equine and human alike!) Please help us make sure that he is never lonely again!

Stryder and Richie
The horse racing industry causes thousands of horses to be born only to be slaughtered or abandoned to an existence of neglect, starvation, and suffering. It is estimated that 800 Thoroughbreds die from racing-related injuries every year in North America. Most owners are not willing to pay high veterinary fees for an injured horse who is unlikely to ever race again, and instead, choose to euthanize the animal. Stryder and Richie are just two examples of Thoroughbreds that have come off of the track and found an unconditional home here at Sunrise Stables.

Captain
Captain is an Icelandic gelding who was bound for the slaughter yard after having been deemed useless by his prior owner. He is in his MID 30s and going strong! As an old (ancient, really) horse, Captain has a special diet and supplements to keep him comfortable as he lives out his days as one of our mascot horses.
